I am so excited to finally share our sunroom with you! This is by far one of my favorite places in the house. The windows immediately sucked me in, I absolutely love them! And the shiplap, how lucky!
As you come into our house you are facing the sunroom. You immediately see all the windows inside and out, so for me the look and feel of this room is super important. I want it to be bright and cheery and a place where you want to snuggle on the couch all day. My goal for every space in our house is to be warm, cozy and make you feel at home, like you belong. The house should look and feel welcoming and inviting from the moment you walk in the door.
Despite the room only needing paint and being one of the easier rooms for us to update, finishing it somehow seemed to drag on. The room was originally an off-white/cream color which is kind of hard to see in these before photos, but they still give you an idea of where we started. It is amazing how paint and a few simple pieces completely transformed this room into a cozy farmhouse sunroom.
The off-white/cream color just doesn’t do justice to the great windows and shiplap!
I decided to paint the walls this winter on one of the coldest days of the year! Don’t ask me why, but it was one of those itches that I just needed to do.
Life lesson….paint will freeze if it is too cold! At one point, the outside wall was so cold that the paint actually froze as I was painting it. So wild!
A fresh coat of white on the walls already makes the sunroom feel so much brighter and warm.
When it comes to painting ceilings, I absolutely dread them! I contemplated hiring someone to paint it, but that seems like a silly expense for such a small space.
I drug my feet to finish….until I found these amazing baskets. They became the perfect motivation to knock out painting the ceiling and doors and replacing all the outlets and switches.
These baskets are so fun, but decorating them kicked my butt! Maybe a shopping trip is the motivation I need!
I absolutely love these windows! I wanted to hang these amazing black light fixtures above each one, how fun would that be! Our electrician was convinced that with the amount of labor it would take, the juice wasn’t worth the squeeze. I decided to hold off and save the expense for now. How sweet would they look, right! Someday!
I wanted to keep the room clean and simple. There is something about white on white that is so fresh, classy and relaxing.
This room is so bright and I am completely obsessed with how warm and cozy it feels now.
My ferns actually grew and survived this summer! Of course, I had to bring them in and see if my luck keeps them alive through the winter. Fingers crossed, but don’t hold your breath!
My parents found this great vintage piece for me, isn’t it adorable!
Doesn’t it look cozy! Can you picture yourself curled up on the couch? And did I mention, the view of the sunsets are incredible! It’s the perfect place to disconnect and soak up the sun.
This sunroom is such a fun space and so easy change up with simple pieces. Sometimes less is more and simple ends up being the best.
I can’t wait to decorate for the holidays! A live Christmas tree would look great in here, don’t you think!
I would love to hear what you think of the room.
Thanks for stopping by the blog, always!
