When we moved we bought a great house, but it wasn’t exactly us. Moving is tough and comes with a intense need for security and belonging. This made it incredibly important for us to create a space that felt like us, like we belonged, and gave us that comfort.
While the goal was peaceful, cozy and comforting, we were far from that in the beginning. Our house was a hot mess! This bedroom was one of the first “livable” spaces in the house, which meant it had an assembled bed…..with sheets. The transformation of this room has been amazing and despite the chaos we ended with a cozy peaceful bedroom.
These before photos are not the greatest so cut us a little slack. At the time we were taking them for just for fun. Who knew!
This is a good space, just in need of a little TLC. How can you not fall in love with these fantastic windows!
Lots of orangey yellowish business going on in here.
Check out the closet! Love the doors….and the idea it could be organized. Amazing!
One of my favorite things in this house is all the windows and natural light. There is nothing better than snuggling up in the warm sun on a cold day. This bedroom is perfect for that! You are literally surrounded by windows.
This window nook is fantastic! Although it’s not exactly a window seat, we have the fix. It’s the perfect spot for this super cute couch and fuzzy rug. Adorable!
The natural light in here is incredible and we wanted to avoid blocking the windows, as much as possible. This leaves the wall between the windows and the opposite wall as the only options for the bed and dresser. At least it helps makes the decision fairly simple.
We started with this awesome photo wall – so fun! Great memories, fairy lights and family and friends to tuck you in at night.
To change it up we swapped out the photos and added this fun sign and garland. If flows well with the other pieces in the room and helps create a calming, dreamy vibe.
It’s here for now, but I am sure it will change again as we roll into Spring.
You know me and of course the ceiling fan had to go! It’s incredible how much difference changing a light fixture can make.
We used minimal accent pieces to balance the room and set the tone, letting the windows do the rest. The llama print, earthy textures, and the fuzzy rug are the punches of fun that keep it interesting.
I am such a visual person that it can make it hard for me to plan. Once I look at something long enough or I am able to see bits of it taking shape, the ideas start to fly. This typically means that most of my designs are purely developed off an idea or a whim. A great example are the Chicken Nesting Boxes I snagged via “curbside pickup”. At the time, I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do with them, but check out my Chicken Nesting Boxes post [HERE] to see where they ended up.
When it comes to planning a room I like to start with a few core elements and build from that. Not everything has to match, it is ok to bring in different pieces and styles. Balance and flow are important, but at the end of day if you love it, that’s all that matters.
What a change! All the different textures, neutral colors and natural tones gives this bedroom a completely different look and feel. It is so warm and cozy now and feels like a place you want to be. Simple, clean and bright. The perfect place to curl up and soak up the sun on a cold day….which we have plenty of here!
This is my style and what I like. Regardless, if its your style or not, I hope it inspires you to create spaces that look and feel like you and your style.
I am so glad you are here! Thanks for checking out our nest!
