It may be too early to decorate the porch for Spring, but it’s the perfect time to spruce up the entryway. The next few months always seem long and gloomy, filled with lots of snow here. A cheery entryway will warm up the entire house and make it feel fresh and bright.
A welcoming entryway takes a little imagination and a few essential pieces. I am always changing ours, but I wanted to give you a glimpse into where we started and how ours has taken shape.
Here is what the space originally looked like.
Since everything else in the house was getting a makeover I figured we might as well add the door to the list. I didn’t want it to feel left out, it deserves to feel pretty, too!
These windows on the door are great and I wanted to make them stand out against the light walls and the white doors and trim. The simplest and fastest way to change the look would be to stain the door. I opted to use a darker stain color to add contrast and a little extra punch.
Take a look at how this turned out. Beautiful!
Remember the bench that I was obsessed with and posted in Summer Porch [HERE].
I decided to bring it inside and use it in the entryway on the wall between the closet and bathroom. Even though there’s snow on the ground, we can’t leave the porch naked! I swapped it out with one of my favorite finds, this park bench. It has so much character and makes for a fun addition to the porch!
When I brought the black bench inside I felt like it needed something fun. I had this adorable metal garland that desperately needed a home, so I layered it on the bench. I’m loving the vintage charm it adds.
Playing off the garland and keeping with the vintage farmhouse feel I made this hook board for above the bench. I like to use core pieces like this throughout the house where I can change the look by adding different elements throughout the year. A fun springy wreath adds a pop of color and cheer.
This room took on quite the update!
It’s important to me that these spaces set the tone for the rest of my house. I want them to feel warm and inviting. They are the perfect places to add your personality and charm.
Target [HERE] has great pieces to create a welcoming entryway. Here are a few optional looks depending on how much space you have to work with. The best part is you can intermix all of these pieces anywhere in your house. Versatility is critical for me. I want to be able to use the things I buy throughout my house to change the look whenever I get the urge.
It’s easy to create a simple welcoming entryway, no matter how big or small your space is. Think about the feeling you want others to have when they walk through your door and what you want to catch their eye. Be creative, think outside the box and use whatever space you can find….walls, windows, porch, or the door to add your style and charm.
I am so glad you’re here! Thank you for stopping by!
